What’s Included When You Hire TrivWorks

I had a really strange thing happen to me this week.
I awoke to a Google alert that TrivWorks had been mentioned in an article. It was in a piece in an online magazine I’d never heard of, talking about our recently-announced hosting partnership with drag performer Frankie Cyanide. I noticed that there was no link back to my Website, which typically is done for branded mentions. I dropped an Email to the outlet’s contact, thanking them for the mention and asking if they could include the backlink.
The response: only if you pay us.
I was kind of stunned. Here we are in 2025, and a media outlet is charging for a backlink that’s usually included. This for a brief mention in a story I didn’t pitch, or even know about, until it got published.
Seriously, not cool.
This incident understandably left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Not only did I not pay for the link, but I declined to share the article via my social channels, Email distribution list or here on my Website, either. But it got me thinking about my own business, and how I conduct it. What do I include for MY clients – or better yet, what should they expect to receive when they hire me, for any function or at any tiered level? Let’s take a look!
Customization
Every TrivWorks event is customized. Every single one. It may not all be to the same degree, but it’s never generic; it’s always tailored content, meaning fun, relevant and appropriate to the audience and occasion. This goes for both virtual trivia and in-person events, by the way.
I can do minimal customization, meaning I’ll send a basic questionnaire via Email in advance. This gives me a sense of who to expect demographically at the event: age range, gender breakdown, geographic region(s) of origin, any international attendees, etc. I can then select the right general knowledge and pop culture trivia questions from my database. I may also sprinkle in a handful of client-specific questions as well, just to help it feel personalized.
If the client wants to spend a little more, I can also do full customization. This usually means a dedicated call, where I learn as much as I possibly can in about 10 minutes: the group’s culture, key messages to reinforce, inside jokes, past shared experiences, etc. We’ll then research and write original questions for the event, balanced out with appropriate questions from my database as I would for a minimally-customized event. The point of such detailed customization isn’t to make it feel like a “quiz,” but rather to make it as personalized and tailored as I can. The more customized it is, the more fun it is – and the greater impact it has!
Ongoing Professional Counsel
This is a big one. Whether you hire me for a minimally or fully-customized corporate event, trivia team building, staff reward activity, holiday party entertaining or any other format, I’m right there every step of the way. Other vendors – particularly budget entertainers and bar trivia hosts – don’t provide this level of customer service. It’s a “see you at the gig” mindset, which I don’t have. I want to exceed your expectations.
Before starting TrivWorks, I worked in the event programing and client service industries. There I learned the art of providing excellent care to customers: responding promptly, being proactive, and just taking care of people in general. I’ve learned to take this a step further, and be there for any and all needs, requests, troubleshooting, changes, etc. I’ll be your main point of contact throughout, and will be there to facilitate every aspect of producing a professional trivia event. These events are important, and my clients need to know that I’m here to help ensure that they go off perfectly, every single time.

Professionalism
I’ve highlighted this one before here on my blog, but when you hire TrivWorks, you get professional service. This starts with me, when I first respond to your initial inquiry. Unless I’m otherwise unavailable, you’ll get a prompt reply – often within minutes – via phone or Email (probably both). Once we connect, I’ll then send you a comprehensive, thoughtfully written overview or proposal, tailored specifically to your event needs. When developing the trivia material, you can be assured it will be perfectly aligned with your program goals and audience.
At the event itself, you can also rest assured that the emcee and support staff will be equally professional. This is because I only work with pros: corporate emcees with years of experience in front of audiences just like yours. You can trust that TrivWorks will deliver a smooth, clean performance in front of ANY audience.
The Bottom Line: You’re In Good Hands
There are of course many enhancements, etc. I can add to your event: celebrity hosts, various formats, custom elements, etc. However, no matter what type of event you hire TrivWorks for, I guarantee you will ALWAYS get a professional, customized event, with excellent client service throughout the entire process. You really are in excellent hands when you go with us, and I look forward to the opportunity to show you!
