I’ve been in this business a long time, and I’ve heard it all from prospective clients when they make their inquiries:

• My group is really smart
• My group is introverted
• My group knows each other intimately well
• My group doesn’t know each other at all

But here’s one that I seem to get the most, and it’s my favorite: my group is really competitive.

This is typical in sales environments, and I encounter it a lot in the industries of finance, law and pharmaceuticals. But regardless of the situation, when you’ve got a group in which EVERYBODY thrives on winning, you’ve got a great opportunity to harness that energy with NYC competitive team building activities which will drive home your goals and create a positive shared experience like no other!

In nearly 10 years of doing this, I’ve worked almost exclusively producing corporate scavenger hunts and now trivia events. These are competitions by design, where groups and/or individuals are pitted against one another in a good-natured challenge to see who will win. For groups which thrive on that winner-takes-all mentality, it’s crucially important that you create an environment which will allow them to enjoy that to the max: high-energy, enthusiastic, raucous. This type of group will not want something quaint, but rather something that they can really dig their teeth into.

It should also be competitive from start to finish, with different challenges mixed in to keep the event fresh and interesting. If you can customize the event to tailor it to your specific group/goals, as well as find a creative way to integrate the key takeaway messages of the day, then I guarantee you’ve gone a long way towards creating an experience that the group will find enjoyable, rewarding, and will make a positive impact back at the office!
