NYC corporate event entertainment comedians

TrivWorks events have been proven to accomplish a lot of things: they allow people to get to know each other extremely well in a short period of time, reinforce positive workplace skills, and get teams to work better together. But when you boil it all down, these customized trivia events for the office in NYC and beyond are really about getting everybody to take a pause from the everyday grind, and just chill out – to stop taking everything so seriously, and realize we’re all human beings, for Pete’s sake!

There’s a power struggle going on in every office, yet there’s something very disarming about having a laugh together which releases that tension. Once people are able to relax a bit, they instantly become more comfortable – allowing them to get to know one another better, work together better, and ultimately become more productive and boost the bottom line.

This past week, TrivWorks had the honor of producing back-to-back trivia events for two new clients seeking employee team building activities in the New York City area. For both events, the goal was the same: to create an extremely fun & high-energy social experience for hard-working staff members, which would be both memorable an impactful.

Oh, and one other thing: both groups needed a good laugh!

On Wednesday, Christian Finnegan – one of New York’s most recognizable standup comedians who moonlights as a TrivWorks host – went down to the Jersey Shore to help culminate a day-long executive retreat for New Penn Financials senior managers. Although the group was weary from a long afternoon of lectures and exercises, Christian utilized his incredibly sharp wit and expert stage presence to get the whole room belly-laughing right out of the gate. By combining a high-stakes trivia contest with nonstop laughter, the group visibly relaxed and let their hair down – by the time the event concluded, they were all smiles, as they headed into their dinner together.

Then last night, comedian Angela Cobb – whom we announced as a TrivWorks host earlier this year – had an entire department from DoubleVerify rolling with laughter for a long-needed team building event in Manhattan. The group was very close-nit, but never really had an opportunity to socialize out of the office in an organized fashion. Angela brought her years of standup and comedy emcee experience to bear, leading the group through a raucous event which included full-room and 1-on-1 trivia, giving away hilarious prizes, and even a spontaneous dance-off!

For companies seeking to infuse a sense of camaraderie and team spirit – while at the same time defusing the tension which all work groups inevitably encounter – there’s really nothing like a shared laugh which can disarm attendees and allow them to not take themselves so seriously.
