What Do You Get When You Hire TrivWorks?

It happened again recently.
I received an inquiry for corporate trivia as post-dinner entertainment. It seemed like one of our bread and butter gigs: a company offsite, around 50 people, seeking some form of interactive engagement following a day of meetings. Folks would be attending from all over the state. Trivia was what they wanted, and specifically the person inquiring said he was seeking two hours of professional entertainment, with both great trivia questions, as well as a host with great energy.
The location was kind of off the beaten path, not near any major airports or other easily accessible spot – so it would take some time (and expense) to get there. But as always, I promised to make every effort to work within their budget to deliver the best experience possible. I put together a package and sent it over.
The response I received was swift: too expensive.
Now, I’m not the cheapest trivia company out there – TrivWorks is a premium brand, after all. However, I’m not the most expensive either. So I asked, “What’s your budget?”
The response?
“$250.”
Here’s the Problem
Allow me to reframe this. A company is planning to bring together 50 people from all over a large state for a corporate dinner, held in a fairly remote location. They want two hours of quality entertainment, with customized content, and a professional emcee – who must travel a great distance just to get there.
And they want to spend $250.
Let’s break this down, shall we? $250 spend. 50 people.
That works out to…$5 per person.
$5. Per person.
I’ve addressed this before, but let me ask it again: what can you get for $5 per person? In 2025? I honestly can’t think of ANY kind of entertainment you can get for $5, let alone corporate entertainment, let alone something that lasts two hours, let alone that’s customized – let alone that’s professionally emceed in the middle of nowhere.
I don’t know what this prospective client wound up doing, but if he DID find a trivia host willing to do this gig for $250…I mean, all I can say is good luck!
TrivWorks is a premium brand as I mentioned, which I pride myself on having built over the course of the past 15+ years. I work with professional trivia hosts, tailor the content to each audience/event, and offer a turnkey platform – all of which has a cost associated. As such, I can’t do anything for $250 – no serious vendor could, and I don’t think any serious client would expect me to, either. (For more on my pricing, see “How Much Do Corporate Trivia Events Cost?”).
But it does beg the question: what DO you get when you hire TrivWorks to produce your corporate trivia event? What do I have to offer that’s so different – and in my opinion, better – than other vendors? Let’s explore the value I bring to the table, and what my clients can expect when they hire me.
Credibility
Trusting your vendor to deliver is perhaps the most important – and nerve-wracking – thing a planner can do. Especially when it’s a new vendor you haven’t worked with before, you as the planner are taking a big leap of faith bringing them in front of an audience of colleagues, clients, executives or other important stakeholders. I believe that as the industry leader in this specialized niche of the corporate entertainment word, I can lay any concerns to rest.
I’ve been doing this – and only this – for over 15 years. I work regularly with some of the biggest companies in the world, many of whom are repeat clients, and have glowing customer reviews to the tune of a perfect 5-star rating on Google. I only work with professional trivia hosts to lead my events, including celebrities, and have appeared as an expert in trivia team building and entertainment in top-tier media outlets. Let’s not forget also the literally thousands of articles like this I’ve published over the years here on my blog. In short, bringing TrivWorks aboard for your event is a very safe bet.
Professionalism
Professionalism is the area where my brand really shines. I strive to ensure that every aspect of the TrivWorks experience is professional, from the moment you first reach this Website, till the event is over. What do I mean by this? You can expect my prompt attention and easy availability throughout the entire process. The trivia questions will be appropriate and relevant for your audience. The staff – including the emcee on the microphone, as well as support staff in attendance – will be clean, polished, courteous and respectful of your audience and event. There will be nothing that screams “amateur hour,” or that gives you any reason to doubt your decision to hire us. You’re in good hands.
Client Service
Prior to working in the event entertainment and programming world, I worked in the client service industry, primarily at global PR firms in Manhattan. It was demanding work as anyone who’s done it knows, however it drilled into me the skills needed to provide excellent service to my clients. I mentioned above that I’m easily accessible and available, which is vitally important. However, there’s more to it than just answering my phone and responding quickly to Emails.
I want to make working with me as easy and seamless as possible for you. I am proactive in anticipating needs, providing necessary information, and quickly addressing any concerns & unexpected issues which creep up. In short, I take care of my clients; I go above and beyond. Whatever you need, I’m here for you.
Conclusion
Am I the only guy in my industry producing professional trivia for company events? No, of course not. Over the past 15 years – particularly since the pandemic – companies servicing primarily bars & restaurants with pub quiz nights have sprung up like weeds. Virtually anywhere you go these days, you’ll find some guy with a mic asking questions about any matter of things while you sip your Miller Lite and chomp on nachos. And I assure you that each and every one of them is also available for corporate & private events.
But as with anything, you get what you pay for. I highly doubt the guy willing to do an event for $250 has the skills and experience necessary for entertaining corporate audiences. He or she doesn’t have the credibility of 15+ years working with Fortune 500 companies, the hundreds of reviews, or the extensive media coverage. They can’t be trusted to be polished & professional, or to go the extra mile and provide any service beyond what they’ve been hired to do.
With TrivWorks, you can and should expect the best. I look forward to the chance to prove it to you!
